To the Editor,
Q) what is the ruling on kissing the hands and feet? Sheik Rajab said," it is allowed to kiss the hands of someone out of respect and love. It is not allowed to kiss someones feet. "
2) Question: Can we as muslims get involved in the American political system to spread Islam and defend Islam? "Sheik Rajab said," Muslims can and should join the politcal process to defend islam but should do so cautiously."
finally,to the sufi who would disagree on kissing the feet, i would like to point out that sheik kabbani has made bayah to sheik nazim who has made bayah to sheik Kuftaro, the grand mufti of Syria. SheikRajab is his foremost disciple and allowed to teach tazkiyyat al nafs from the Naqshabandi tariqa.
so msanet "mujtahids" and u know who u are, what do u say to the words of a scholar?
To the Editor,
Hdate: Wednesday 6 Raby` al-THaany 1417 A.H.
Wa Alaykum AsSalam Wa RahmatUllahi Wa Barakatuh, Al-HamduLillah, it is always a pleasure to spend time with the pious people of this Ummah.
Masha'Allah, May Allah increase him in knowledge even more, and may he increase us as well.
May Allah(SWT) protect us[esp. me] from Al-Kibar[pride and arrogance], since I had presented the evidence for the permissibility of kissing feet, I'll answer your questions reluctantly, as I am far away from the station of Mujtahids and even farther away from that of the Sufis.
First, Shaykh Nazim traces his chain of authority in Naqshbandi Tariqa through Shaykh AbdAllah ad-Daghestani not through Shaykh Ahmad Kuftaro may Allah Bless them all.
Second, as Imam Qasim Bin Muhammad Bin Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq[R] has said, the differences between the Sahaba is a mercy. Therefore as such, the differences between the scholars may also be a mercy. I respect the view of Shaykh Mohammed Rajab, as I respect any Muslim scholar's view. Since other scholars including the ones that I try to emulate and including eminent scholars of Syria as well[eg. Shaykh Said Ramadan Al-Buti] are of a different view, which Al-HamduLillah has been well documented and for which books have been written, then Insha'Allah I will follow them. Differences in Madhab's interpretations, scholars views, etc. should not be any reason for disunity.
Incidently, I too had the pleasure of seeing Shaykh Mohammed Rajab at the International Islamic Unity Conference in LA where he was representing Shaykh Ahmad Kuftaro who was unable to attend. I was impressed by this gentle, soft-spoken, humble and radiant scholar. He gave a beautiful lecture in Arabic in which I heard him refer to Shaykh Nazim as "Shaykh-ul-Awliya".
May Allah(SWT) grant us always to be in the company of his Awliya.
WasSalamu Alaykum Wa RahmatUllahi Wa Barakatuh
Allahumma Salli Ala Sayyidina Muhammadin Wa Ala Alihi Wa Sahbihi Wa AtTabi'eena Ila Yawm IdDeen Wa Sallim.
