Imm `Abdur-Razzq ibn Hammm ...held a high rank in the science of Hadth and was strong (thiqa) in its transmission. His rank can be gauged by realising that he was among the top students of Imm Mlik (ra) and was the teacher of the teacher of Imm Bukhr and Imm Muslim. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal was among his students Ahmad ibn Slih Misr states, I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal, have you seen anyone better in Hadth than `Abdur-Razzq? He answered, No. (`Asqaln, Tahdhbut-tahdhb, 2/311) He then stated: I love the Hadths of `Abdur-Razzq on the authority of Ma`mar more than all of the Hadths of the people of Basra. Hfiz Ibn Hajar al-`Asqaln concludes: thiqa, hafiz, musannif, shahr strong, memoriser, writer/author and well-known. (`Asqaln, Tahdhbut-tahdhb, 1/505)
