Q. Can muslim male wear silver chain and bracelet? Please answer this with the references of Hadiths.
In Bukhari and others: The Prophet wore a silver ring and people began to wear silver rings. They wore them after his time also.
There is no evidence for more than that. Chains and bracelets are therefore the province of ijtihad by analogy with the ring, and I have not heard of any scholar either permitting or prohibiting them. For myself I prohibit myself from wearing them because I consider that they contradict the Sunna from two perspectives: – resemblance to female fashion; – resemblance to the fashion of non-Muslim men generally speaking; – allowing them will make allowing ear-rings for men the next step; and I like to follow what is clearly from the Sunna, not what is clearly from the non-Muslims. Allah knows best.
