Putting the finger down after pointing

Q. On page 66 of the footnotes of Al-Albani’s prayer book (in English) he says the following,”as for putting the finger down after pointing, or limiting the movement to the affirmation (say la ilaha: there is no god..) or negation (illallaahu: ‘..except Allah), all of that has no basis in the Sunnah; in fact, it is contrary to the Sunnah.”

A. These statements have an air of extremism about them, the Imams of the Four Schools and their authorized commentators have spoken eloquently and reliably enough on these questions, Albani’s claims were refuted in the book “Albani Unveiled” (p. 27-30 “Moving the finger in Tashahhud”) and Allah knows best.
