Q. I have some amount in the bank and it’s already to the amount I have to spend for zakat. If I spent that 2.5% from my money for the purposes of Islamic activities (in my place for doing sacrifice /udhiya ) we need some amount for operational cost) if I spent this money for that purpose is it permissible according to Islamic Shari`a.
A. Zakat money must be handed over to the poor and destitute of the Muslims. It can also be given to support madrasa or masjid expenditure. It can also be given to support a teacher or a student of religion, or a traveller in need even if he has wealth back home.
