“This course will explore the status of our master ʿIsa b. Maryam (Jesus son of Mary), may God’s benedictions and peace be upon him and his mother, in the Holy Qurʾan and Hadith narrations of the Prophet Muhammad, may God’s benedictions and peace be upon him, his family and companions. The material presented will not be simply a list of all the mentions of this important prophet and messenger of God in these most sacred sources of Islam. Instead, we will view the Qurʾan and Hadith through the writings of Sufi masters who discussed Jesus, may God’s benedictions and peace be upon him, most auspiciously the 13th century Andalusian Sufi saint Muhyi al-Din Ibn al-ʿArabi (d. 638/1240)”
