WORDE Invites Delegation of Religious Leaders Including the Grand Mufti of Egypt to Washington, D.C. |

Given the increasing threat of transnational terrorist organizations, Egypt’s religious leaders have been called upon to confront violent extremist ideologies – creating a unique opportunity for the US and international community to empower religious actors to develop an effective counter messaging strategy. To explore this potential, WORDE will invite a delegation of religious scholars to Washington, D.C. from October 24-28, 2016 to participate in high-level meetings and consultations with government officials, policy analysts, academics, and community members.
The delegation will include:
- Mufti Shawki Allam, Grand Mufti of Egypt
- Shaykh Ibrahim Negm, Spokesperson for the Grand Mufti.
- Shaykh Muhammad Mahana, Senior Advisor for the Shaykh of Al-Azhar, Professor at Al-Azhar University, and renowned Sufi community leader
