Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani
O Muslims, O Believers! Allah (swt) has dressed us and perfected us from heavenly honor, as He said in the Holy Qur’an:
وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِي آدَمَ
We have honored the Children of Ādam.”16
He honored the Children of Ādam above all Creation, and He honored some by choosing them to be from Ummat an-Nabī (s):
كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنكَرِ
You are the best Ummah of Mankind, enjoining what is right, preventing what is forbidden.17
We are now in the time of Hajj. It is Allah’s (swt) honor towards us to perform Hajj at least once in our lifetime, for whoever can afford it healthwise and financially. He (swt) has granted Hajj once a year for more than 1400 years, and every Hajj has its own unique taste! There is no resemblance between one Hajj and another. Whatever Allah (swt) sends from the manifestations of His Beautiful Names and Attributes on one Hajj He does not send again on the following Hajj but sends more.
So, Hajj is like a rainbow displaying all kinds of different colors, each one giving you a different taste. If you examine that rainbow with a magnifier you will see even more colors all of which increase your joy. Hajj is thus like a rainbow displaying different manifestations of Allah’s Beautiful Names and Attributes. Each year that goes by receives more manifestations over what came the previous year, all the way from the time of the Prophet (s) up to the year you go for Hajj.
Allah (swt) is generous and whatever He sends, He does not take back. Therefore what He gave before is still there. The rainbows of manifestations that Allah (swt) sent on people making Hajj 1400 years ago is still there from that time, and you receive them cumulatively from each preceding year, along with those of the year you perform Hajj!
The manifestation of this year is going to have a different taste from those that happened in prior years.
This does not mean that you will only receive the blessings manifested with your presence at Hajj in this year or that those who went last year or another year are deprived. No. Rather it means who goes for Hajj receives the accumulated manifestation of all preceding years’ Hajj as this dunyā is moving quickly towards a heavenly change that will bring the power of Heavens to restore peace and happiness on Earth!
